Post time And a good one I think!
THE QUIDDITCH POST
Issue #82
The Quidditch Olympics Have Resumed With New Rule
Yes the headline is true, the Quidditch Olympics have resumed, but with a new rule. The new rule, which replaces the old rule of having to have 3 people post to make a competitor lose a try in their event, is that if the competitor does not post within 24 hours of the referee's post, then they will lose that turn. This new rule will affect the Bludger Bash, Keeper Catch, and the Chaser-Shootout events. To see what you guys thought about this new rule we, go live to Qs, our editor-in-chief. "Hello all, I know you don't see me too often out reporting, but I'm Qs, editor-in-chief of the Quidditch Post and I'm outside our office here in Diagon Alley with a special guest. He's famous, he's practically a legend around these parts, he is Puddlemore United Keeper, Oliver Wood! Good to see you here Oliver, what do you think of the Olympics thus far?" 'Eh, I don't know what to say Qs. I am glad to see that we are having another edition of them, but like most people I don't fancy the slowness of 'em. Hopefully they'll pick with this new rule though.' "Yes, that was what I was just going to ask you, wow you really are a Quidditch pro, what are your thoughts on this new rule.' "Aye, it's making things tough, that's for sure. I was watching Fred this mornin' in the Bludger Bash event, and it's putting up a good fight. Fred's a high-class player and he's at 1/3 now. They are going by quick though, and I guess we'll know for sure how it affects everyone once the other events commence.' "Indeed they are going by fast, we barely have time to report them! -laughs- One last question Oliver, since you're in town for the Olympics, how would you like to do some reporting for us at the Quidditch Olympics Stadium?" 'Ahh I'd love nothin' better than that Qs, thanks for the invite.' "No, thank you Oliver. As always, Qs here with the QP, outside out office in Diagon Alley!
Broom of the Day
Today's Broom of the Day is the Oakshaft 79. The Oakshaft 79 was crafted by Elais Grimestone of Portsmith in 1879. The Oakshaft 79 had a very thick oak handle. This gave it it's name, and also made it able to fly for long periods of time, and through high winds. The Oakshaft 79 was never sucessful at Quidditch--due to the fact that is didn't perform well at high speeds--and is now a vintage collectors' broom.
Today's Weather
**SPECIAL WEATHER BULLITEN** There will be snow all across the country with temperatures around 3 below. About 15cm of snow is forecasted to fall over the next few hours, but more is expected in areas to the southeast. Outdoor Quidditch should not be played for the next few days.
Team of the Day
This issue's Team of the Day is the Falmouth Falcons, a team that set out to change the Quidditch world when it was started at the beginning of the 2009 season. Similar to the Chudley Cannons, the Falcons quickly entered the Tournament of 2009 as a new and upcoming team. As most experts would agree, the Falcons were probably at their prime during their match against Ravenclaw in the first round of the Tournament, which featured the following line-up. For the Chasers, there were Captain Katie, Harry, and Pigeon; three marvelous players who have been known to single-handedly score 700+ points between them. Playing the position of Seeker was Shawn, who has been known to catch a Snitch as soon as the 1991 Falcons vs Slytherin House match had started, though critics think the Snitch was faulty. Lastly, their Beaters Tardis and Former Head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports, James, were a very powerful due. Together, they can hit a Bludger at over 300+ miles per hour. The match itself was a great game played, but what was probably more exciting were the supporters. The first timeout of the match took place over St. Patrick's Day, and during the timeout, Falcons fans summoned hundreds of falcons to fly over the Pitch and stands. Shortly after, Ravenclaw fans summoned hundreds of ravens, which began to attack the falcons and an overhead battle began to take place. Suddenly Falcons fans, being true to their nature, began to shoot spells at the Ravenclaw supporters from across the Pitch. A large duel then broke out, which included Ministry officials and Aurors. The duel was stopped when the match resumed, and the Falcons eventually lost due to Ravenclaw Seeker Alice's snitch capture. Despite getting knocked out of the Tournament, the Falcons continued to play exhibition matches between local teams until they were eventually closed down during the middle of the 2010 season.
Trend of the Day
Hello, fellow Qudditch Post readers! There is no newest trend for you all at this certain moment in time! I shall post when there is any new trend up and coming! Until then, I'm Sam Malfoy, Trend of the Day Reporter! Signing out!
Player of the Day
This issue's Player of the Day is Norris (mrs.norris89). Norris started posting on the boards in March of 2010 as a Chaser for the Black Moon Quidditch Team, a position which she still holds to this day. She was, and still is, one of the best Chasers on the boards, and a key figure in helping Black Moon to a 2nd Place finish in the Quidditch World Cup.
Following the confusion of the Black Moon vs Gryffindor Quidditch World Cup 1st Round Match, Norris took up various positions within the Department of Magical Games and Sports, where she helped rewrite the Rules of a Forum Quidditch Match on this board, and in the Ministry of Magic, including the Wizengamot, where she helped pass and refine numerous laws. Norris was also a key figure in the development of the Second Annual Quidditch Olympics, helping to promote the games all across this site. On top of all this, she even works as a Current Events reporter for the Quidditch Post, alongside Louise. Today, Norris still posts occasionally on the Quidditch Board and in various Ministry threads.

Post time, though a little late
THE QUIDDITCH POST
Issue #81
The Quidditch Olympics Have Been Put on Hold!
After some talk between players and officials, the Second Annual Quidditch Olympics have been stopped temporarily. The main reason, events that involve other users posting, such as the Bludger Bash event, are being considered "too easy" for the competitors, since not too many of the other users are posting. Luckily, our Trend of the Day Reporter, Sam, managed to get an interview with Quidditch Olympics organizer and Department Head, Nz. "Hello All, I'm sure you guys know who I am by now, but for those who don't, I'm Sam here for the QP. Now today we're at the Quidditch Olympics Stadium and we're here with Nz, who has been organizing the games. So Nz, what made you want to hold the 2nd Annual Quidditch Olympics again" 'Well, to start off Sam, Dolphina did a great job with the First Quidditch Olympics. During it's run, the board was united and was more active. I pitched the idea of another edition of the QO in the hopes that it would re-unite the board again and bring in more people.' "A bold move indeed, given that the boards have been very slow lately. Did you suspect they would be progressing this slowly?" 'I suspected that this edition of the QO would not be like the last one. As you've said, since that time, the boards have slowed even more. Our participation was down from the last one, but I still decided to go ahead with the events.' "Now going onto the topic of why these Olympics were stopped, what made you want to reduce the number of trys for each participant, for rest of the events?" 'To make the events more fair and mainly to make the events run faster. This still hasn't been decided yet though, as it is currently being discussed in the Department of Magical Games and Sports thread.' "Okay, and of course we'll be bringing our readers the latest news on that topic. Now to finish off, you mentioned before that there would be no Quidditch World Cup, due to the insufficient number of teams. Have you though of anything to replace it yet?" 'Well as of now, the Gryffindor Team is still active and a few member of the Black Moon Team are still active. I've been thinking of having a match similar to the Gryffindor Inter-team match, but having the active Black Moon members join each team as well. I'll have to discuss this with the Department as well.' "Okay well hopefully these ideas will turn for the better. Thanks Nz! Sam for the QP, signing off. Stay tuned for more details on the Department's decisions!
Broom of the Day
This issue's Broom of the Day is the Cleansweep Twelve, the latest product from the Cleansweep Broom Company. Unlike previous models before, Cleansweep kept details about this Twelve model broom very quiet. "It wasn't until it was released that we actually knew anything about the Twelve model," says Fred, Broom of the Day Reporter for the Quidditch Post. "I managed to get my hands on this model just a few days ago. It certainly does live up to all of the recent hype; achieving speeds of over 150 miles per hour and having a newly designed Braking Charm added to it. Its great for Quidditch play, and I can bet we'll be seeing a few of them in League matches in no time" The Cleansweep Twelve sells for 3 Galleons at Quality Quidditch Supplies, but they are currently on back order there and at other Quidditch shops.
Today's Weather
**SPECIAL WEATHER BULLITEN**
From the MoM: High winds and snow are predicted to fall for the next few days, with temps falling below freezing. All Ministry-owned pitches are closed for the next days and it is recommended that you winterize your own pitch if you have not already done so. Be sure to stock up on Quidditch Winter Robes from Quality Quidditch Supples (1 galleon, 3 sickles, 1 knut for any size) if you plan on playing Quidditch in the next few days.

This issue's Team of the Day is the Falmouth Falcons, a team that set out to change the Quidditch world when it was started at the beginning of the 2009 season. Trend of the Day
Hello, fellow Qudditch Post readers! There is no newest trend for you all at this certain moment in time! I shall post when there is any new trend up and coming! Until then, I'm Sam Malfoy, Trend of the Day Reporter! Signing out!
Player of the Day
This issue's Player of the Day is Dark (darkwizard1000). Dark first started posting on the boards in January of 2009. He is probably best known as the founder of the Ministry of Magic on the boards, starting it on the 24th of January, 2009. The Ministry of Magic thread, which is on the Hufflepuff board, quickly expanded onto many other boards, establishing Department threads on them. Naturally, he was the first Minister of Magic and the Ministry is said to have been at its peak during his time as Minister. Eventually, he retired from the position and now holds a position in the Wizengamot.
Dark made his way onto the Quidditch Boards shortly after he started posting and became a Beater for the Gryffindor Quidditch team, where he was one of Gryffindor's main beaters for most of their matches. Off the pitch, Dark was involved with the development of the Department of Magical Games and Sports, the development of the Forum Quidditch Match and the rules that accompany them. He even held the post of Current Events Reporter here at the Quidditch Post, and along with Nz, were the commentators for the QP for most of the Quidditch matches at the time. Though he is less active now, Dark still continues to post on the site and help out with Ministry-related things.
